DaVirnier RetrO'Clock Demonstration
The DaVirnier RetrO'Clock tells both the hour and the minute, even though only one thing is turning. It is called "RetrO'Clock" because the minutes proceed counterclockwise, even though both the hour progression and the physical rotation are clockwise, as usual.
The part that turns is a disk dial that covers most of the face underneath. The dial is attached to the standard clock movement's hour hand shaft, so it rotates once in 12 hours.
As a minute approaches, two white notches appear on the clock outside that minute's window. They disappear as the minute passes.
There are also white wedges before and after each minute's number. They grow and shrink so that they are of equal size at the top of the minute.
These demonstrate how sensitive the eye is to small differences.
This animation works properly in Chrome, Opera, CM Private Browser, InBrowse, or Dolphin. It does not work in FireFox, Internet Explorer, Puffin, UC Mini, or Safari 5.1.7 on Windows. TBD: Apple iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
The animation shows only 6 ticks per minute. It is accelerated by 10x, relative to real time. It restarts after showing 2 hours.
